ABOUT
My passion is working creatively and artistically with women, teens and children to help them deal with the challenges of youth, discover their own inner strengths, feel more confident, and live more joyfully and expressively. I have trained extensively in psychotherapy, the arts, and yoga, and bring a mature and nuanced yet playful sensibility to my work.
I am interested in the ways the arts can help us process deep emotional and psychological experiences and live into more meaningful lives.
I have studied expressive arts therapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies, the Life/Art process with Daria Halprin and the Tamalpa Institute, depth hypnosis with the Foundation of the Sacred Stream, shamanic counseling with the Kiva Institute, and much more. I have also studied yoga and yoga therapy extensively and toured around the world practicing and teaching.
CREATIVE PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR TEENS
Teens face many challenges as they come-of-age. They deal with immense social, societal, and systemic pressures, on top of the ordinary challenges of being young humans. Often, when things are overwhelming, it can be helpful to work symbolically, through images, movements, music, or stories. Expressive arts therapy works with this timeless truism into the intersection of art and science.
I create a supportive environment for teens to creatively work with and through their challenges and emotions so they can discover, nourish, and express the wonderful parts of themself they may not even be aware of. This process can be fun and empowering.
WHAT TO EXPECT
In expressive arts therapy, we will talk as in other forms of therapy, but we will also utilize visual arts, film, music, movement, narratives, poetry, the imagination, and play to explore and process emotions, experiences, relationships, and ideas about the self and the world.
FEE
Sessions are 50-minutes and cost $120.00. I accept CenCal. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network reiumbersment, I can provide a superbill for you. I also offer sliding-scale.
